I love this card THIS much! he he he... Seriously, the "Under the Stars" stamp set from Stampin' Up! is quickly becoming one of my favorite sets! The minute I saw this little guy in the catalog, I just knew he was saying, "Love you THIS much!" Unfortunately, SU! didn't realize he was saying it because the phrase is not included in the set. Hm. Soooo... I had to hand write that part. I guess it turned out alright. I used the little heart image from the "Moose You" stamp set.

Holiday Gift Packaging

Stamp Club this past Sunday was a BLAST! We did things with the Big Shot that turned out "oh-so-cute!" If you missed this past club, not to worry. Our next get-together is on Sunday afternoon, September 28th from 2:00 to 6:00. Immediately following Stamp Club will be our Septen-ten-tenber Stamp Camp from 6:30 to 8:00pm. Check back soon for pics of the projects we'll be stampin'.

This holiday gift bag was demoed at this past Sunday's club. It is SO SUPER EASY to create. This is my absolute favorite way to package any gift for the holidays. It's fast. It's inexpensive. And it's fabulously gorgeous!

I used the 4x8 white sacks from Kaiser's in New Albany. First, I trimmed the sack to 6". The front piece is from the absolutely beautiful Holiday Treasures Designer Series Paper by Stampin' Up!. It measures 4.1/4 x 6. The back piece is a 4.1/4 x 8 piece of Kiwi Kiss (gotta love those In Colors!) I stamped on both using Baroque Motifs (with Chocolate Chip and Kiwi Kiss.) I used this stamp set to coordinate with the little swirls in my "for you" image. Love, love, LOVE this year's Ronald Mc Donald House Charities Stamp Set! A sets of four squared images that coordinate with SU!'s new Scallop Square Punch. Love it! I stamped that image in Riding Hood Red and then punched with the Scallop Square Punch.

Stampin' Up! goes BIG with the Big Shot

As promised... here are some Big Shot projects, all created by using the brand new Stampin' Up! dies and Big Shot machine. How adorable is the basket you see above?! This basket was created with a long 12" die called "Baskets and Blooms." I must say it is quickly becoming my absolute fav. If you are a "gift giver" this die is a must have. Can you imagine how fast and easy this basket will make our gift giving?! I can just see it filled with everything from Hershey Kisses to jewelry to you name it!

I rolled the So Swirly wheel on my basket before putting it together. The blossom was built by using the Scallop Circle Punch as a base and the same 12" die for the rest.

This card is so simple and says it all when it comes to a "thank you." These blossoms were built from the 12" die mentioned above. The "Top Note" die was used to create the framed notion containing my message.

And oooooohhh... I just LOVE the "Peace Joy Love and Cheer" die! Look how fantastic it looks on this scrapbook page. I can't wait to play with this die and create greeting cards with it! Can you imagine how cool these words will look when they are seperated?! The little journaling box was created by using the "Scallop Envelope" die. I simply folded the side back and adhered it to the mat. See below how it opens. OH! And the white area on my red mat is actually the NEGATIVE piece from the red scallop on the greeting card pictured above. Pretty cool!

Demo Favorite Retirement Party Project

These little "fastener albums" are so fun and easy to create! I am HOOKED on them (or should I say "fastened" to them, he.) This one was created using the Stampin' Up! Simply Scrappin' Kit, "Cottage Rose." LOVE, LOVE, LOVE Simply Scrappin' Kits!!! I can use them on my scrapbook pages and STILL have a ton of elements left over to use on other projects such as cards and mini albums like the one you see here. With Stampin' Up! coming to a close with its current catalog, there is a good chance many of the current Simply Scrappin' Kits will retire. You will want to stock up on them now. Chalk Lines

Just received this beautiful card from my secret sis and I totally appreciate her talent! Isn't it gorgeous?! She used a technique called "Chalk Lines." Retirement Party Project

Quick Card Strips

I've shared before my love of Quick Strips. I mostly use them on my scrapbook pages and got that idea from my fabulous fourth upline, Amy Johnson, in Stampin' Up!. Recently, she introduced a new technique to me as to using the same Scrapbooking Quick Strip on cards instead of pages. If you take a 12" Quick Strip, you can get two 4.1/4 x 5.1/2 cards with a teeny bit left over. Making these up ahead of time, I can have the option of scrapbooking or quick cards making in a moment's notice.

So I decided to create some Quick Strips specifically for cards alone. I could certianly use these on my scrapbook pages as embellishments but I've sized them specifically for cards. I've made up several and will wait to put them on my card until I need it. This way I may need a thank you and the next strip can be used on a birthday card. Get the idea?

In the case of these cute little strips, I have adorned a little "pop-up" card that will be redesigned for my Retirement Party on Sunday, July 27th from 2:00 to 4:00pm. Retirement Party, July 27th

Each year Stampin' Up! retires many of their wonderful stamp sets to create more room in the new Idea Book and Catalog for even more wonderful stamp sets. This is such an exciting time for stampers and scrapbookers. One set to retire will be the set I used on the card you see here... "Eat Cake." For the card shown here, I used the "Polished Stone" technique which works best on glossy white card stock. To create the polished stone technique, simply drop a few drops of reinker onto glossy card stock. (I used Lovely Lilac, Orchid Opulence, and Sage Shadow.) Generously soak a cotton ball with rubbing alcohol and begin to blot the reinker areas all over the card stock. Your design will be different every single time so don't get caught up in uniformity.

Very First Nimbees Challenge

THIS is my very first Nimbees Challenge card. And now, you ask "what is a Nimbee?" ME! I belong to a great group of Stampin' Up! demonstrators who occassionally swap ideas together and inspire one another. We have a group blog you can check out at this link... NMBS (which if pronounced, sounds like "Nimbees.") You can also find links to most of the Nimbees members' blogs to the right here on my blog. Check them out. They have some FABULOUS ideas!


The very first Nimbees Challenge was a Limited Supplies Challenge from my friend Teresa ( Inkfully Yours ). Each week there will be a new challenge on NMBS to help spark your creativity... OR... to give you inspiration to simply be the best copycat you can be (be sure to read my side panel where it says "Pretty Please.") A Limited Supplies Challenge is when the hostess suggests a few items to work with and you try to only use those items. I LOVE challenges! They really make me think outside my little box.


To create the blossom on this card I used the Scallop Punch for my base, the Large Star Punch for the next layer, and the Five Petal Flower Punch for the main blossom. The leaves were created with the Five Petal Flower Punch as well. All of these punches are available through Stampin' Up!. Contact me via email if you'd like to order them. Then you can make all sorts of beautiful blossoms!


MY CHALLENGE TIP OF THE WEEK: Make sure your aren't spending too much time on your creation. Some of the best cards I've ever seen are ones that take less than ten minutes to make.

16 Sweet Years and an 11 Year Old Sweetheart

Having been married sixteen sweet years, my husband and I decided to celebrate as we always do at our favorite bed & breakfast in Bardstown, KY... The Beautiful Dreamer. We absolutely LOVE going there and have been going there for the past ten years. The owners are wonderful Christian people and they spoil their guests royally! They are amazing cooks and hostesses. The Beautiful Dreamer is in the heart of Bardstown and is located directly across from My Old Kentucky Home and the Stephen Foster Story Ampitheater. We love our visits to The Beautiful Dreamer because there are fantastic restaurants, great shows, tons of antique and specialty shops, a state park, amazing tours, and much much more. I think now that we've been visiting for so long, our fav thing to do is just sit on the porch in the evening while listening to a wedding hosted at My Old KY Home. This gives us the opportunity to remember our own wedding while celebrating so many wonderful years together.

This visit to The Beautiful Dreamer was more special than ANY other. As we entered our amazingly decorated colonial room, there sat a handcrafted anniversary card just for us. No, it was not from the owners. My first thought was, "Aahhh, Dean (dear husband) must have had Wynne (dear daughter) put it together for him." So I picked it up and opened it with Dean looking over my shoulder. It was from Wynne HERSELF. She made the card, asked her school teacher for assistance in mailing it, and then asked the owners to have it in our room upon arrival. Can you believe that little sweetheart?!!! Of course, Dean and I both were crying and smiling and lovin' that little girl more than ever! What a special way to celebrate! She even had her little brother sign the card. God is good. Yes, He is oh so good!
